GRID: How do I use the grid?
The comment grid has search boxes at the top, icons to initiate actions next to each comment, and a pagination tool to browse through comments.

GRID: What do the icons next to each comment do?

Icons (next to each title)

  • "Enable/Disable:" the green/red light may be clicked to turn the icon to the other color which enables (green) or disabled (red) the comment
  • "Edit" (the pencil): used to edit any portion of the comment
  • "Trash can:" clicking this icon will delete the comment from the website's database

GRID: How do I sort for enabled or disabled comments?
The comment grid has a black (by default) button in the upper left corner. Clicking this button will sort the comments be enabled (green light) or disabled (red light). Clicking the button so it shows black will result in the comments being ordered newest to oldest.

GRID: How do I search by date range?
Click the aerial icon and a pop-up box will appear (see below).



Enter your dates by typing them in or clicking on the calendar grid and alarm clock icons to select dates and times for both a start range and a stop range. Then click "APPLY" to begin your search. Results will display in the grid.

The up/down arrow next to the word "DATE" may be toggled to sort the dates in ascending or decending order.

GRID: Where are the old comments? How do I find them?
Every comment, unless you have manually deleted them, is in your website's database (and "yes," the website is backed up every night).

You may either search in the various ways the grid provides, or you may manually browse comments using the pagination tools at the bottom left of the grid.

GRID: The garbage can on the grid...what do it do? How do I "undelete" a comment?
The "trash can" does what you'd think...it deletes the comment next to the trash can you click upon.

If you or your staff have deleted something by mistake please contact 1up! to help restore it.

GRID: The pencil icon is how you do to the populated form to edit the comment.
Click the pencil and go to the populated comment form. The changes you make will overwrite the original contnet and save to the database.

And now let's discuss the elements of the Comment administraiton form.

COMMENTS: User's name
This text field displays the submitting user's name. You can edit the field by either pasting or typing text into the field.

This text field displays the submitting user's email address. You can edit the field by either pasting or typing text into the field.

This text field displays the submitting user's telephone number. You can edit the field by either pasting or typing text into the field.

This text field displays the submitting user's IP address. This field cannot be edited.

The upper right of the Comment form will display the type of content (article, photo, etc.) the comment was submitted for.

This text field area displays the submitting user's comment. You can edit the field by either pasting or typing text into the field.

Comments: Completion Bar
All good things must come to an end...

Once you have finished you'll come to the bar of buttons at the bottom of the form. Or rather, the completion buttons are now attached to the browser window and not built into the form itself. This makes it easy at any point in your loading process to edit the Comment.

BACK TO TOP: jumps the site administrator back to the top of the Comment administration form.

FINISH: this uploads your Comment into the website.

CANCEL: this will jump the site administrator back to the Comment management grid and cancel (and delete) any content that was being entered into the site.
